Our 0-6-0, 2-8-0 and 4-6-2 are supplied as a fully machined, painted/plated
and assembled chassis running on air (sometimes called the "running gear").
We do all of the precision and somewhat tricky machine work to build the
chassis-on-air including the frame, drivers, axles, pilot truck (on 2-8-0 &
4-6-2), trailing truck (on 4-6-2), spring rigging, brake rigging, side rods,
main rods, cylinders and valve gear for you. This will give you a proven,
high quality foundation upon which you can build the rest of your
locomotive. A completed chassis-on-air may potentially save you years of
work. A chassis can be supplied with or without a completed and pressure
tested boiler. Please see our web site for specifications. However, you do not have to come up with all of the money at
one time.
Here is how we do business on our chassis-on-air models:
You and I would work out a delivery schedule and a payment plan for the
construction of the chassis-on-air that best suits your needs and your
budget. The delivery schedule could be anywhere from, let's say, one to
three years depending on (a) which chassis-on-air model you select and (b)
the rate at which you want to fund its construction, which we will refer to
as the payment plan. The payment plan would include a reasonable
up-front deposit plus interest free payments spread out over the time that
it takes us to build the chassis for you. We would then write up those
details in the form of an agreement.
You may separately order a boiler to be built for you at anytime, however,
just remember that it takes some time to build the boiler. We would need to
get an exact price from our boiler maker at the actual time of ordering the
boiler.
Chassis-on-air and boiler prices are subject to change without notice.
